O.k. I found out what I thought was the drivers and copied them to
a floppy.....since XP is 32 bit, at least my ver, I did the NT4 drivers...
actually I tried all of them same error message
NT5\viamraid.sys caused an unexpected error (18)
in line 2118 on d:\ ...............
The South Bridge is VIA 8237S
OS will supply the driver or you can go to your MB's webpage and download and install the chipset drivers for your MB. That should stop you from stepping off the cliff you are about to. SATA drivers and RAID drivers are not one and the same. Watch out.
Thanks
I got it it is formatting as we speak....don't realy know what I did
different except put the floppy in and the XP CD in at boot....
I hit the F6 and it worked.....
Thanks
Terry
Great. SATA drivers do not have to be installed at the F6 prompt. RAID drivers do.
You should delete your comment and then delete yourself. Really how else do you install sata drivers if they are not slipstreamed into the xp cd... and if you only have a sata hardrive and sata controller?

Try taking your own advice....
Badge is correct. Unless you are installing your SATA on a RAID controller, your SATA drives install as an IDE.

Lol... i was thinking I was being a little harsh....
I like that though, badge is correct "unless" badge is incorrect.
Sometimes you have to change settings in the bios to allow sata drives to appear as ide, and other times, such as with pci sata controller add in cards, that do not support any raid, you do not get the option to allow sata devices appear as ide.
So to help anyone else.
First
-Are you installing on a sata controller or raid controller
-Check your bios to see if you can change harddrive settings to show sata drives as ide.
-Some add in cards also have options menu you can access during boot.
Failing above:
-Find drivers for your raid controller
-You will need to copy to a floppy the folder for your os containing txtsetup.oem
-Press F6 during setup to load additional drivers.
