will you be overclocking or watercooling the 4870x2's?

Sorry you need at least a 1kw power supply. If you look at any of the manufacure websites they require 650w for 1 card and 1kw for 2 cards.

How can that be? The card doesn't take 350W of power.... It takes at maximum load 270W. So...

dude just go onto the thermaltake website and use their power supply calculator... select the parts you're using and there you go

I do not see why your XIGMATEK MC NRP-MC851 850W would not power 2 4870X2 in CF. On AMD's website of recommended power supplies, they list the Xscale EP-750P3A as one of the recommended power supplies.

It has +12v1 20a, +12v2 20a, +12v3 20a, +12v4 20a. With a total wattage of 750w.

Your PSU is very comparable to that one, and it's on the recommended list.

I don't see any reason why not, but maybe TheGreatGrapeApe or someone else can provide some more insight.

Ok so i did the calculation on thermaltake and it turned out 680W... So do you guys think im gonna be set?
August 23, 2008 8:29:52 AM

I'd say you are.
August 23, 2008 9:06:29 AM

certainly. did you also take into account 100% system load and an overclocked processor/slightly overclocked 4870x2's?
August 23, 2008 11:55:36 AM

It's going to run, but you'll probably push it to the limit which is not good of course :non:
Go with a 1k as it leaves room for the PSU to breathe

How much room will i leave?
