Will this PSU be able to sustain these upgrades

Recently, my PSU burned out and also killed my graphics card and motherboard.

I am now running the following setup:
AMD 64 x2 4400+
8600 GTS
2 GB (I believe DDR 3200) ram
160GB HDD
DVD RW burner
Antec Basiq 500W PSU w/following specs:

That's two 12v rails with 18a each

However, I want to upgrade (by the end of the year), to an AMD x2 6000+ (125w) and a 9600GT (recommended 26 on 12v).

Will this PSU [safely] run these components? I don't want to risk burning out my PSU and damaging more components.

Be careful, if it is indeed DDR 400 (PC 3200) ram you have then the processor is a Toledo-based Socket 939. The 6000+ is an AM2 processor and the two are NOT interchangable. If it is DDR2 then it's a Windsor- or Brisbane-based AM2 processor that could be upgraded to the 6000+. I however would suggest an upgrade to the 5400+ BE for $77 @ 2.8Ghz with an unlocked multiplier.

I agree with aevm, though, the Antec PSU you have should be fine.

Thanks for the reply :)

The first line is misleading, since I actually already have a working gfx card, psu, and mobo.

I just checked CPU-Z, and the RAM is actually DDR2 and I'm running a Socket AM2 Brisbane 4400+, so I should be able to upgrade to a 6000+.

Thanks for the advice on upgrading to a 5400+ instead, I'll look into it
