Being troubled about my next rig and thought to ask what you guys think :ange:
The rest of the components are:
-CORSAIR DOMINATOR DDR2 4GB (2X2GB) PC2-8500 (1066MHZ) CL5 DUAL CHANNEL KIT
-HD 4850
-THERMALTAKE W0101 TR2 POWER 550W
-INTEL CORE 2 DUO E8200

Admitively i am not a fan of Gigabyte without a great reason but i have included it for comparison reasons :??:
Please do bear in mind that i am to leave the rig on 24/7 but i want to save power when i am not actively using it (is there such an option in all BIOSes?)

Thanks in advance

Go to Control Panel->Power options for power saving options while not using the computer.
Also there is speedstep in the bios.

Asus.... no questions asked

That is a tough CPU to OC.
You would be better off spending a little less on the Mobo. (perhaps one w/o raid) and getting an E8400 or E8500.

its not good theory.

@zenmaster: i didnt know :/ i picked it just because it is the lower cost among the 45nm, 6MB L2 CACHE, 1333MHZ FSB... i might as well choose a mobo that has not Crossfire as i am not to use it however the DFI does not have such a model available in Greece (where i reside).

@evongugg: Will this help me if i am downloading stuff while i am not using it? i.e. will the CPU clock down? And since this will be my first ever dual core CPU, will speedstep affect my OC?

just get the Q6600 , couple bucks cheaper, easier to oc.

@Homeboy2: not here though... is an E7200 a more solid choice?

It will not help unless the computer is idle.
It may interefere with your overclock also. Run Prime95 and check for errors.
