My friend is hooking me up with 2x2gb of "server" ram.

Other than the obvious fact that "server" rams are used for servers, whats the diff between that and a normal ram? Are they faster/better?

Anything else i should know? (Will it be compatible with an average mobo like my ga-945p-s3? or do i need a special server mobo?) He's also using these server ram on his average NON-SERVER motherboard

Those are Fully Buffered DIMMs (FB-DIMM). They are more expensive, dissipate more heat, consume more power, are slower, and will not work in any non-server motherboard. Currently, those will work on only two platforms; Intel 5000 Series and Sun UltraSparc T2 servers.

Your friend does not have those modules running in any non-server motherboard, unless its using the Intel 5400 chipset (e.g. SkullTrail). He may have different modules running in a non-server motherboard, but not the modules from your link.
