Ok i posted here not so long ago about a new build i was working on for around $1,638.25 / R12000 (that is my budget)
this is wat ive settled on and will be going to get it tomorrow if possible!

plz note this is for mainly gaming and some photo editing etc. due to my GF studying photography, and that the prices are in South African rand (ZAR) i have converted the prices to (USD) to make it easier for u the current rate is..
1 USD = 7.30254 ZAR

CPU: $246.34 / R1799 the site shows it as R1999 which is incorrect

http://www.computersonly.co.za/productdetail.aspx?sku=BX80562Q6600&categoryId=36087

MoBo: $342.39 / R2499 they have a gigabyte x38 but im not sure on which 1 think it is the GA-EX38-DQ6 or the GA-EX38-DS4

http://www.computersonly.co.za/productdetail.aspx?sku=ASUSMP5E&categoryId=40359

HDD: $95.56 / R699 it is only a 320gb will upgrade to a larger 1 in the near future if needed! I already have a 500gb external drive for storage purposes

http://www.computersonly.co.za/productdetail.aspx?sku=ST3320620AS&categoryId=36101

Case: $95.88 or R700 the site doesnt give u a price but thats how much i can get it for

http://www.raidmax.com/specs/aztec.htm

PSU: $95.88 or R700 will be roughly that price thinking about changing it when im in the shop and see what they have in stock

http://www.raidmax.com/specs/volcano.htm

RAM: $109.18 / R798 there

Will be 4gb ddr2 800 timings last time i went to go check what 4-4-4-12(will not be buying it from computersonly coz i can get it cheaper from another shop)

GPU: HD4850 ($300.98 / R2199) HD4870 ($478.61 / R3499) if i go HD4850 ill most likely Xfire soon (will need a new psu)

Monitor: $341.20 / R2499 i cannot link to the shop i am buying it from.

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/features.do?group=computersperipherals&type=monitors&subtype=lcd&model_cd=LS22PEJSFV/XAA

OS: i already have vista premium 32 & 64 bit. (which would be better to suite the machines intended use)

Ok the total:

$1627.6 / R11,918.95 (with HD4850)

$1806.01 / R13,241.74 (with HD4870)

is the extra $178.41 / R1,307.90 worth it to get a HD4870
Idont really have the money for it now but i am willing to spend it and not go out for a month if its worth it!

And possibly how would this run current games/latest photoshop or equivalent editing programs

i have never OC'd before but may be try it with my old computer and then with this when i am happy i know what im doing! (would OC this build be worth while?)

if u can see anything i can possibly improve / cut the price down with plz feel free to leave ur comments

And thank u very much for any help/ideas u may provide

Raidmax PSUs are listed on tier-5 ("Do not buy") of the listing at http://www.tomswiki.com/page/Tiered+PSU+Listings?t=anon. Although it is a dated list, there was a recent thread containing a video in which we got to see three Raidmax PSUs choke, smoke, and croak when loaded to only 75% of their rated output.
I would suggest getting one from tier-3 or better on that list, or, if newer than the list, from a manufacturer who has nothing lower than tier-3 on it. I do not know what is available to you in ZAF, but Antec, Enermax, OCZ, Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, Silverstone, or Seasonic would all be reasonable choices. A 450W PSU would be the minimum, but I would recommend 500W-550W for your build.

Thank u very much! i will see what they have! thank u for the feed back!

um also would it be wise for me to just spend extra to get a bigger psu say a 700w incase i wanna go xfire?

thank u again!

If you want to use Crossfire with high-end cards, then you will want at least 650W, so 700W would be good. If you plan to overclock and/or add a lot more drives, fans, or other things to your rig, then you probably want 750W-800W. There is a PSU sizing calculator at http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp. I would add 50W-100W to whatever it recommends to allow for expansion and because PSUs are more efficient when not run at max capacity.
