I think though too, people are on a budget. Face it, if your gonna spend 135 on the 8800, you might as well cough up more money and go for a 4850. But on a budget, I would say the 9600gt is good enough for most people.
Yeah, if people are trying to decide between the 9600GT and the 8800GT for performance then 8800GT should be the obvious winner.
Unless people are thinking "bigger numbers" mean better performance.
For the record, I have a 9600GT in my HTPC 'cause it's passively cooled (silent) and gaming on it is not important. Probably use it to play older games though.
The 9600 GT can oc to match the 8800 GT in some benchmarks, and it can be passivly cooled like jaguarskx said. They don't consume as much power and are a very good hit for the money. In Canada, they sell for 90-110$ while the 8800 GTs are from 135-289$ (yes 289$ its not a typo, some weird cards I think its the OC other than that I'm stumped as to why any1 would pay that much).
