Athlon 64 X2 6000 paired up with 4870?

Just wondering if anyone is running this combination and what your benchmarks are. I upgraded from a 4850 and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in performance. My 3dmark 06 score is around 10500. That seems to be kind of slow for that card. Only a few more hundred than my 4850. My system is a new build. I'm thinking my psu is not up to par. Its a Thermaltake TR2 RX W0134RU 550W ATX12V Ver2.2 NVIDIA SLI Modular Cabling Passive PFC PFC Power Supply - Retail. My system randomly locks up after startup once in a while. I did a fresh windows intall with XP Pro. My M.b. is Gigabyte GA-M57sli-s4. It does not have pci express 2. I run everything on 22" monitor maxed out- 1680x1050. I ony have to games intalled at this time. Crysis running at high settings it get an average of 30.573 fps. my low fps is 6- using Fraps. I don't get that. She bogs down in explosions our alot of intense action. Oblivion is my other game and I get stuttering quite a bit. I have 2 gig of pc2 6400 Kingston ram. I tried different catalyst versions as well as the current 8.8. and I still have the same issues. I'm hoping it's just the psu and I will just switch that out with a better one. Also, my athlon x2 6000 does not want to overclock at all which seems strange even with stock cooling. My case is a RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WB Black 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case. There's plenty of cooling in that case. GPU idles at 50 with fan fix. CPU idles around 45 with stock cooling.

I doubt the cpu would be bottlenecking it at that res. and quality settings, definitely odd. I get similar fps on my 9600GT at 1440x900 on high. It does seem there is something wrong on your end. That psu should be perfeclty capable of running that 4870 unless it is defective.

Almost the same exact rig as I have same CPU and Vid card same problems to. I have tried everything and it seems my problem was (At least as far as I can tell) AVG free 8.5 I uninstalled that and so far no more lockups during Crysis and Age of Conan.....also I have not been running anything in DX10 that seems to act up on me aswell.
