hello,

I just brought a pair of OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Reaper HPC (2x2GB), it should be DD2 1066, but my motherboard (EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard) detect only 800Hz. so what should I do?

Thanks

What is your FSB running at? If its running at 1333mhz you need to set the FSB:RAM ratio to 5:8, if 1600mhz then 5:6. I could be wrong on the ratio's, I run 1:1.

Hi

Thanks for the help, I think is 1333MHz, it shows on the first page, when computer starts. By the way in my BIOS, there is linked and unlinked.

Do you mean,

I select linked, FSB memory ratio to 5:4 and FSB (QDR) MHz to 1333? because I don't have 5:8 in my BIOS.

Or

I select unlinked, FSB (QDR) MHz to 1333 and MEM (DDR) to 1067.

Also the memory timing now is 5-5-5-15, but on newegg specification shows 5-5-5-18. should I change to this number.

by the way, I have no idea what all these is, just try to get most out of my new self built computer, by matching the number from the specifcation.

again thanks for the help

memory works off of some ratio from your real fsb
which for you would be 333mhz (quad pumped gives you 1333mhz you see at startup)

so now if you put your ratio to 1:1 then your mem will run at 333 but since it is DDR, it runs at 667

now if the mem setting in bios is set to auto, it will clock the memory at the highest speed according to SPD

the reason it doesnt set your mem to 533 x 2 (1066) is because the 533 spec is not an official spec and 400x2 is the max "official" standard
the 1066 just means you can push the mem to 1066 manually

so yea what you need to do is go into your bios, change your FSB:MEMORY ratio to something else

if you set it to 1:1, it will run your mem at 1:1 speed of the real fsb, so in this case 333, but since your mem is DDR2, it will be x2 = 667

so now if you do a 1:1.66, your fsb will run at 333 but your memory will run at 333 * 1.6 which is 533, and once again your mem is DDR2 so it will be x2 and then you will have your 1066
