Hello guys,

This is my first post here and first time building a computer from the ground up. These are the parts that I bought:

Antec P180 case, Antec TruePower Quattro 850w PSU, Q6600, G.Skill 2x2gb DDR2 800, Powercolor HD4870, Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer, Samsung Spinpoint F1 750gb, Xigmatek HDT S-1283 with retention bracket... not sure if I forgot to mention some parts.

And I'm having hard time installing my HD4870... the side of the card where the monitor plugs are just cannot click into the case and I am really clueless on what to do. Have you guys ever ran into the same problem?

Here are the pics to show what I'm trying to explain.

umm I would take the card out and try to straighten the front plate of card. that probably should fix this. Also make sure you screwed the motherboard correctly.....maybe you didn't screw it completely...? Just trying to help you lol

No problem, just force the bracket down with one hand while fastening the screws.

motherboard is screwed in 9 holes correctly, if it wasn't I wouldn't have been able to screw all 9 screws in easily :) yea I keep on trying to straighten the front plate of the card but it keeps bending in different directions :\

but what if the "teeth" of the pci bracket aren't in the holes?

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with that, if the bottom of the bracket it bent a little just bend it back. Seems to me like you just need to play with the card as you're putting it in the slot and maybe push a little harder than normal to get it in. It's not always a perfect fit man, so sometimes you just need to stop babying it :P

True... the bigger part of the card that goes into the PCIe slot clicks in easily but the smaller part by the plate just can't get in no matter what... I'm thinking that the "teeth" of the card's plate are not going in the case's expansion slot holes and therefore the card can't get in the slot evenly on both sides... I'll have to bend the crap out of this plate

^^yeah, it just needs some rough lovin'. :P

you did use stand-offs when installing the mobo, didn't you? lack of stand-offs will cause some aligment issues while building and severe electrical problems when powering on lol

Yea, P180 already came with pre-installed 9 standoffs, I didn't have to install the extra brass ones

Looks to me that the card isn't completely in the PCI-E slot. Give it a little downward push.

It should fit, because I have exactly that case and that gfx-card.

Good luck ;-)

i've had that same problem whenever i install a video card. it happened when i added a new agp card to an old dell computer, and i had the exact same problem when i installed my 4850. the card just isn't fully in the slot.
