It gets about half way and says:-
'Cannot access "::\documents and settings\Steve Charlton\send to"
folder.'

(the "::\" looks very strange).

It offers "Retry" and "Cancel" as options. Retry does nothing and cancel
aborts the install process. If I cancel, a second dialog pops up and
reports "Error 2707", whatever that means. I have to reinstall 4.01
every time this has happened.

The help desk had some initial suggestions about registry keys. They
correctly spotted that I had upgraded from WinME to WinXP (I'm on XP2
now) but the registry hacks made no difference. They seem to be out of
ideas. Anybody out there got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

At least you can obtain the download. I've been waiting for my email from
PalmOne about 4.1.4 for two weeks now.

On one machine I have, I used this to upgrade from 3.something and it
brought it up to 4.1.4. Doing a fresh install on another machine, as
with you, it shows 4.1.0. Very strange, but it still works fine.

Click agree or whatever and it takes you to the download page. I go

I don't know what it is with the install program, I had one "H" of a
time getting it to install on a Win98SE machine that had only a clean
install of windows. I kept getting a similar message about not being
able to access a folder within C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\. What I did, was clear
out the entire temp directory, then try again. Install failed. I then
went to the temp directory and there was only one folder and it
contained the .msi file mentioned in the error message. I double
clicked on that .msi file and the install completed, but on trying to
start up DeskTop I got an error and the program terminated. I went to
add/remove programs in control panel, removed DeskTop, rebooted, tried
the install from the .msi file again and that time it worked. I have
no idea how they managed to munge the install, but I have never seen
it install cleanly on 6 different machines so far. They vary from
Win98SE up to XP Pro. Keep at it, it eventually installs......
