It's still a decent price for that proc. If you're not an overclocker it will probably compete well with a Q6600 at a lower price. You're right though, it does draw a lot of power but that's not a major concern for many home users.
I just would not want one.
Too slow on Single/Dual threaded apps.
I can get a E5200 for $60 less and have better single/dual threaded app performance. (Yes I would OC it.)
If I needed 4 cores, I would spend another $30-$40 and get a Q6600.
------------------------------If its good in theory but not in practice,
its not good theory.

few mobo support it i was going to get it and Biostar and 3 other companys dont support it, i found that ASrock does through so good luck finding a mobo that supports it
Why would you say few when I think all 790GX boards should support it and even 770 chipsets will support it. I have an ASUS AMD 770 M3A Phenom Socket AM2+ 2000 MHz PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066) ATX Motherboard and it supports it fine. You probably only need a bios upgrade for support. Also, an Intel Q6600 will not beat the 9950 stock. Plus it's 30-40 more.
