well i am getting everythign rdy for my new system when it arrives in less then a week, damm shipping from california takes forever. but this is my first build i have made myself and i want it to stay that way, so im getting all the stuff together program wise to put it though its loops ive got core temp and 3d mark so far on my list to use along with memtest to test the ram any other tid bits i should do to make it stay new and not be destroyed on use. i plan to oc the processor to at least 3ghz maybe more if i can get it higher without changing the voltage to much. thanks for any help
the build is:
- VisionTek 900244 Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail
-COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail
-Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
-CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply - Retail
Looks very good, however i say go for a DDR2 800 RAM with 4-4-4-x or lower timings because the difference between DDR2 800 and 1066 isn't much and DDR2 800 OCs very good too.
If u need CrossFire then go for a X48 chipset, because its newer than X38 and the price difference isn't much.but if u dont need CrossFire,go for a P35 board.

As far as the motherboard and crossfire, your real choices should be x48 or P45. The P45 is quite close in crossfire performance at normal resolutions, but at very high ( above 1920x1200 ) resolutions tends to drop well behind the x48.
The ASUS P45 is also an excellent overclocker that is easy for those new to the subject.
I recommend the P5Q pro at about $150.00, if you decide to go that route.
well i have already bought these parts and i cant really change the build at this point , i wanted to know what i should do for it when it arrives software wise and bios wise
