Hello everyone,

I am thinking about purchasing a new monitor. I currently have the 17" that came with my computer, and its ok, but I dont feel its doing justice to my video card, a NVIDIA 8600 GT. So I was just looking for some suggestions, will spend up to 200.

Thanks

-Master Andalf

*Edit* If you could attach a link to the site where i could order the monitor that would be sweet too

the 8600GT cant due justice to a 17" LCD, let alone a bigger one. Pickup a 4850 (or any 8800 series GPU) and then save for a new LCD.

GET A NEW MONITOR. I just upgraded from a 17" sony LCD to a 24" Samsung LCD 1900x1200 resolution and its awesome. At Costco it was $399 but with a instant rebate at the counter for $350! With instant manufacture rebate at the counter. Even running my old 7800gtx and its playing Age of Conan at decent FPS. Get the Monitor while the ATI graphics prices go down and then get the 4870 cuz it use to be 299. Now its 250 with rebate on newegg. Or wait till 4870X2 gets cheaper. Trust me the monitor will make u look at your computer totally differently. Makes you wanna jizz everytime you walk past your computer at all those high rez wallpapers. Widescreen is another plus...your GPU can wait.

here's the online link.

I recommend getting a new Video card first. The new larger LCD's are wasted on that anemic card. Spend your money on a better card first, then save up for the new monitor. Depending on your preference

ATI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102770
$180, ATI 4850

nVidia: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127378
$173, 9800GT 1GB

(just make sure your power supply can handle it.)

Monitors: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001268
$270 (trust me spend the little extra, after your new vid card on this one)

Your video card is crap.

A 1680x1050 22" monitor with your 8600gt would result in unplayable or low graphics settings in modern games (it would like an original Playstation game).

You need at least the $70 8800gs or the $99 8800gt.
