Temp spread from idle to full load [prime95 load] is:

idle - 32
load - 54

here are the coretemp/cpu-z reads:

[the 49 degrees reading is from like 15 secs into load, it gets up to 53 - 54 degrees after a couple minutes and stays there]

i use the thermaltake big typhoon heatsink

are these temps too high? is the temp spread of 22 degrees difference too wide / is there anything i can do about it?

No those temps are normal. I have my Q6600 Oced to 3GHz and my temp range is the same. You will normally see about 20c difference between idle and load, especially when OCed.

And don't worry. The temps yours is at under 100% load is fine. They can go over 70c before any danger is present.

The only way to lower the temp would to try to lower the voltage to the CPU but that may cause it to become unstable. You can try lowering it 1-2 points and retesting it with Prime95. If its stable keep doing it until you find the lowest possible stable voltage.

It's normal. I have a C0, oc'd to 3.8ghz with the same voltage, and I get into the low 50's under load.

How did you manage 3.8 GHz on 1.28V... someone got lucky with their chip :o

But yea, mid 50s are perfectly normal for a CPU under heavy load. Mine hits 58 under full load after about 80 mins when the liquid in my system isn't quite at room temperature, but it's an overclocked quad core. No need to worry about yours at all :)

Yeah, it's a pretty good chip. I did the pencil mod on my 780i and that also helped it a lot.
