Hi,

When I install a dvd drive with jumpers set to slave(I've also tried cable select), it wont boot. I have tried new IDE cables and swapped the orders. Ive been in BIOS and tried detecting the drive. I have also tried several dvd drives (all IDE) and I wont boot.
Can anyone help?

Thanks!
Scott

do you have multiple ide ports/cables on your motherboard?

try switching them over..

can you also provide the motherboard supplier/model, and check whether there are any jumpers set on the hd.

Full system specs please..

I had this problem with my old computers a few years ago. It had to do with the jumper settings. I dont know what was what now, but I think changing the drive will also help..........

You need to be more specific about what you are doing, there is about a dozen different things you could be doing wrong, please elaborate with a little more detail. A good start would be to let us know what kind of motherboard, and of course the critical part WHAT OTHER DRIVES DO YOU HAVE ATTACHED AND HOW?
