Right now, I have a 8800GT and it barely fits in my chassis. I'm thinking about upgrading to a 280GTX and I was wondering if it was bigger or smaller than 8800GT; also the dimensions. I was also wondering if a 400W PSU will be able to support it, since I read that it takes less power than the 8800GT. Thanks.

Umm.... What? Takes less power? Er..... Nope.

And yeah. It won't fit in your probably, it's also bigger than a 8800GT, a lot bigger.

yeah GTX280 is a LOT bigger... um btw use google before you start making people give up their time to help you.... a google search would have got like 500 sites saying length and power consumption...

He did not make anyone give up time. If someone chose to read and/or reply to this, it was under their own free will. Posing harmless questions should not result in a rude response.

Thanks guys, and I did use google but I only found dimensions for the 8800GT.

9in long x 3.5in wide x 1.5in thick

Edit: Haha I just googled "280gtx dimensions" and this was the first link.

well i tried this card on a 320w and a 380w, my experience is that its not stable with such cheap power

on 380w i was able to play crysis for a few hours or until it got really warm before it crashed, on the 320w crisys did not even start for more then a few seconds before crash

in conclusion 400w probably is to small if you want stability in games

the card works fine in windows but when it starts to work hard and power levels spike its over with the fun : (

i guess i have to get a 450w or bigger somewhere

I'd suggest something like a Corsair 550w. I'm sure any cheap generic 400w PSU powering a GTX280 would most likely burst into flames. :(

AKM880 :P
