Kind of.. I'm a bit tight on budget so I went to 650i Ultra... I need advice if I should go with the step up now or just wait for 3 mos to step up?I'm not interested in SLI though...

Step up to 780i? For a single gpu setup, intel chipsets are fine. I think you like the 650i features like floppy, IDE, IEEE, PS/2, etc.

Yes. Doesn't matter what kinds of drives. It's a matter of config. If both hdd & dvd are ide, hdd should be master.
