This is my first build and assembly ever.

I just assembled this components together:

CPU: Intel Core 2 quad Q9300

Motherboard: nForce 780i SLI

Video:GeForce GTX 260

Ram: Dual channel kit 800mhz ddr2 2x 2gigs ea

Case: Ultra Grid ATX Mid-Tower Case with Clear Side, Front USB, Audio
Ports and Ultra 700 watt atx power supply.

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB Hard Drive - 7200, 16MB, SATA-300

So after connecting and assembling everything (At least I think I did) I went for my old monitor and plug it into a vga adapter that came with the video card. So I turn on the psu, turn on the monitor and finally turn on the pc.

The motherboard lights on, I see blue, green, and orange LEDs; an onboard display reads Fb(or f6) in green. While on my monitor, nothing happens, I assume it should boot into the Bios since my hard drive is clean no OS.

What could the problem be?

dont put your 2gig... just plug 1 ram only.... maybe your motherboard doesnt support 2gig ram, bios update?

It may be a supply problem because the GTX260 needs 36A on the 12V rail i believe, and your power supply only has 32A.

Even if that is not the problem you are experiencing now it may be in the very near future.

I have 4 gigs, they are 2gigs each, and I tried both configurations (2gigs only and 4 gigs) with no luck.

Didn't notice that Helios, I'll check it.

Good spotting there, helios. He might get crashes in games because of that.

I don't think that's causing his booting trouble though. If the card wants 36A under load, then 32A should be plenty IMO when it's idle (as in, when booting, Windows Explorer, etc.)

Does it post? (is there a beeb or series of beebs?)

Did you plug in the 24 pin motherboard, 4/8pin CPU, and 2x PCIe Power Cables?

Any risers in the case that shouldn't be there? (meaning installed in the case where there is not a corresponding hole on the motherboard) because one could be shorting the board).

CPU cooler fan is plugged in? (simple I know but i've seen PCs not boot because of this)

Perhaps try resetting the bios.

In my psu manual I there's a chart for output. On the Max Output current and under +12v there's 40A, more than enough for my graphics card I suppose.

I hear no beeps, because I didn't plug in any audio and have no speakers. I plugged in the motherboard, placed the cpu and attached the heatsink/cpuFan, the two PCIe power cables are there in the graphics card and psu.

I don't know what a riser is, but I'll take a look.

One note, when everything is powered on, I see all the fans powering on and spinning except for that of the gtx 260, and as there are no power leds on it...I really can't tell whether it's on or off.

Also, I don't know what the Jumper or clear Cmos is but I heard they are related to the Bios. Maybe that's why I my display screen is blank when on instead of showing the Bios.

use them to clear out any bad settings in your bios thatr may prevent you from booting, also if your mb has onboard video, take out ur video card and try to boot with the onboard first, if it boots, then try it w the card again. GL :)

My mb didn't come with ob video. :??:

Does it need a hard drive to get into the bios?

Does anyone knows what that display on the motherboard is? Everytime I power up, that panel says Fb(or f6) in green letters. *EDIT* I found out it is a LED post code read out, able to display errors or messages in codes but sadly Fb (or F6) isn't listed in the manual, if I can find out it will most likely solve my doubts.

btw, maybe this is my problem. (Posted before the edit)

My motherboard supports:

Maximum Memory Supported: 8GB - 64bit

Memory Supported: 533MHz DDR2
Dual Channel Supported
667MHz DDR2
800MHz DDR2
1200MHz DDR2 (SLI-Ready)

The ddr2 ram sticks I bought:

Memory Size: 2 x 2048MB

Memory Speed: 1000MHz PC8000

Memory CAS Latency: 5-5-5-18

Memory Type: Dual Channel DDR2

Pins: 240

Are they compatible?

*update* I'm not quite sure but the F6 post code on the LED may mean "Boot to mini DOS" What does this means and why isn't it displaying on the vga monitor?

Also remember there are 3 steady on LED ligths, 1 green, 1 orange, 1 blue.

O yeah, made a mistake, my psu is not 600 watt, it's an Ultra 700 watt ATX PSU. In it's manual there's a chart for output. On the Max Output current and under +12v there's 40A, more than enough for my graphics card I suppose.

This is my PSU: http://www.ultraproducts.com/product_details.php?cPath=...

*The chart is right there aswell.
