DVD/CD-ROM

Hello,
My DVD/CD-ROM will not recognize or play a DVD, but will recognize and play a game or music cd.

  1. If it can't read any DVDs, movie, software setup, etc, bad drive. DVD and CD use different pickups, the DVD one could get damaged while the CD one is fine.
  2. I have downloaded an updated recommended driver for my DVD/CD-ROM. Now I can't get my computer to recognize the new driver, it keeps going back to the default microsoft driver that came with my original XP package. :fou: I have uninstalled the DVD/CD-ROM and reinstalled it; I have tried to change the defaults, but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you can read CDs but not DVDs, you need to replace the drive.
