Hi, does anyone have any tips to help me here.... I just got the following:

Antec 900 Case
Core2 Quad
Asus PQ5 Deluxe
ASUS EAH3850 PCI Express 2.0 Video
4GB OCZ DDR2

I connected everything and tried to boot. I just get one long (never ending) beep. I don't really know where to begin. If I remove the video card, it no longer beeps at all.

How would i best troubleshoot this? Thanks much!

could be a problem with a loose wire, say for the video card or the fan for your processer.

Hm, I set and unset everything, doens't seem to be anything loose. How do I know what is defective?

Hi,

I had a similar problem after installing the P5Q Deluxe last week. It simply would beep. Originally had BIOS 0603, now 1303. System Info:

  • Asus P5Q Deluxe
  • MSI NX8800GT OC 512
  • Core2 Quad Q6600
  • 4GB Corsair Dominator 8500 DDR2

I found three things got it working:

  • Unhook all USB devises apart from mouse and keyboard - it seems to hang initialising USB controllers sometimes.
  • Check if your RAM is plugged in properly - the slots seem very sensitive to the slightest misalignment.
  • Switch off and clear bios the hard way i.e. remove backup battery and reset BIOS

It took a few more reboots but it posted successfully.

Hope this helps
