I have an E8400 and my asus p5n-d just died and I RMA'd it.Did the cpu died too.
And also ,can the cpu be dameged when cleaned? I cleaned the pins surface contact and the thermal paste on it too.
Is it dameged or dead? How can A cpu be killed?
How can I hit it with static discharge?I just held it in my hand can that cause any damage?
Sorry for this stupid questions but I'm really worried. If this one is fried I won't be able to buy another one for a long long time. Sorry again
I hope your CPU is fine.
A static wrist guard is a good bit of kit
that should be used whenever your handling components.
ounce of prevention and all
don't pick your nose, don't put things in your ears, don't screw wt the connectors on your cpu or chipset.

You are kidding, aren't you?
Ever walk across the floor and touch a metallic object and get shocked? That's Electro Static Discharge.
Electro Static Discharge or ESD can damage electronics.
Always unplug your power supply from the AC outlet and ground yourself before opening your system up.
Hmm just been reading this as im wondering if another CPU I have is blown without having another PC to hand how qould I know its blown?? I did post about my problem but no-one has replied
CPUs don't "BLOW"!
They rarely ever stop working for any reason. But in the rare occasion that they do, its because static electricity got to one of the transistors inside the die. Highly unlikely, but it does happen.
