Hey all im new to this forum i am currently running GA-N650SLI-DS4L motherboard Q6600 oc at 2.7ghz cpu and 4gig of 800mhz extra latency ram ocz 650w truepower antec psu 22" asus monitor i want to upgrade from my current video card a Gigabyte GeForce 8600 GTS to the new ati weapon 4870 x2 my first question is am i kidding myself :D , Q2 Is there an issue with bottlenecks as people call them with the pci slots on nforce chipset boards Q3 Has anyone ran or is running this m/board with a new 4870 x 2 card

Well the 650W is minimum for 4870x2, so it's possible... But you seems to have some oc in your CPU, so I would put bigger psu...

I think the bottlenecks you are referring to are concerning crossfire/sli as the second slot is not 16x it is 8x or 4x.. That would not apply to the 4870x2 as it’s a single card solution, unlike if you had two 4870’s

That card is total overkill for your system unless you get a bigger monitor you should consider a 4870 as you wont see a difference.

If you had two 4870x2's then yah the second slot being 8x would matter.

If you plan on getting a bigger LCD/CRT in the couple of months, maybe getting a 4870X2 could be a good choice indeed, but if you're not planning to do that, just get a 4870.

Well one thing to keep in mind is that 4870x2 is a LONG card. So you want to make sure it'll fit in the case first before anything.
