AMD budget build (under $400)

I'm reusing the mATX case from my old system, as well as the peripherals. Here's my preliminary list of hardware.

  1. I wouldnt spend more then $25 for a psu for such a build.
  2. dont listen to him, stable PSU's are always best. You could go lower watt and it would be fine, but lower quality is never a good choice. I would definitely try for a dual-core

  4. I like dirtmountain's build [The AMD one]. To The OP; the set-up he suggested is great. I would make a few small change though. I'd stick a 45w amd processor in there, as well drop down to an earthwatts 380w.

    It won't play games or decode blu-ray smoothly, but the OP hasn't listed the real needs of his system. By general use standards, it'll bring up firefox and play videos on youtube just fine. It'll be a great low-power high efficiecy general use computer.
