:hello: Hello everyone! So, I am thinking of getting a Thor's Hammer from Xigmatek. I was just wondering if anyone else has had experience mounting it onto an AM2+/AM3 Socket and whether the supplied mounting will be sufficient.

I haven't had the opportunity to install a Thor's Hammer, but if my past experience with a K8/AM2/AM2+ cooler was any indication, you may have to modify the retention clip to get it to fit tightly on your AM3. And from the look of the newegg description, it may not come with any kind of support plates to balance the weight of the cooler. Thor's Hammer weighs in at 1.7lbs so it may be a just a little top heavy.

You should probably email Xigmatek and ask them whether that cooler will work on an AM3 proc.

I take it you're a W40K fan, eh? :)

Ha, yeah I am. I am a Space Wolf player so the Thor's Hammer was attractive to me :P

But yeah, I looked it up and it turns out it has some issues. I'll instead just get me a i7 920 on the cheap and use the beefy Intel 1366 mounting bracket provided :)
