I purchased a Intel D945GCLF2 Atom 330 Dual Core 1.6GHz and 2gig memory at specs. I tried to install xp . System will boot from cd and will let me do partitions. However when windows try format , the system reboots. I tried a sata drive and ide drive with same results. I have never seen this before . Any help would be gratly appreciated
if the hard drive is newer than the windows xp installation CD, the install will fail because the winxp installation cannot recognize the hard drive, to solve that issue try to ge the driver for the hard drive "ATA Controller, i believe" and press F6 when the windows installation begins. it could be that the windows xp installation doesnt know how to use the HHD. hope this help
I got the same results with an IDE drive also. I don't know if the mobo was bad when shipped or if the memory is bad, which is also new. I also tried different versions of xp.
Check your bios if you got the controller setup as IDE or AHCI. Default of XP is IDE - if you select AHCI, you will need to press F6 and insert the drivers.
Check your ram voltage - sometimes it reboots if the voltage is not enough - example ram requires 2v and mainboard supplies 1.8.
