I've had problems with this board for about two-three years now (pretty much since i bought the PC). Problems like after 2 weeks of use the computer wouldn't post anymore. I took it to the hardware store but all they did is make me pay for a new 1GB ram stick because suposedly the problem was with ram. It wasn't and I didnt bother with this PC anymore since i had a replacement and didnt really have time. (however as a side note the computer always "Heals" itself if you swap ram sticks (i had 3 now because they made me buy a new one) and even if that didn't work after a few days or so it regenerated by itself)
But I think i mabye found the problem, which isn't with ram because as I said after the PC starts working again it works absolutely perfectly, for about 2days-another 2 weeks. And if the board/ram was deffective I assume in 2 years something would have fried.
This is quite an old board, meant for P4 and I can't figure out how to lower the voltage on the ram. My ram is rated by the manufacturer at 2.6V (+/- 0.1) and i'd really like to put it @ 2.5 because i finally found out on the net that this board is really intolerant of over 2.5V on rams at specially if you run in dual channel. (another side-note PC works apparently indefinately with just 1GB).
Now the problem is that i can't underclock the RAM voltage, neither from bios and neither from gigabyte's easytune utility. Only increase voltage.
Can anybody tell me if there is any other third party program that i can do this with ? Or if it would indeed shed light on my problem at all.
**Also note ram sticks are identical between eachother
