i want to build a new pc for gamming and need advice on which mother board to get .my first one is a asus formula 2 maximus p45 chipset or the xtx sli780 nvidea chipset which is better for gaming

The Asus Maximus II Formula would be my choice. Mainly due to the board reliability and DDR2 ram prices. Since there is alot of Compatibility/Stability problems with the nvidia cipset 780i motherboards (mainly BSODS and ram).

Depending on how much you are willing to spend on this Build. But you could also go with a Core i7/X58 build, which will allow you to do either SLI or Crossfire.

ZipZoomFly has 2 version of the Asus P6T Deluxe for sale. Prices range from $299.99 to 339 on them.

The Core i7 Cpu 920 @ 2.66ghz would cost around $300, which will be officially released on Nov. 17th.

You would also need the new DRR3 Tri Channel ram. They come in 3x1gb and 3x2gb kits. Below are the links for both.
