Monitor: I plan on using my 46" Sony Bravia as my monitor

Games: Cyrsis(doesn't have to be crazy settings but the 1900x1080 would be nice) WoW, SC2

Movies and Video: I'm also planning on playing hd content through this set up.

I'd like some advice on what to get, I'm pulling the trigger by the end of the month in September.

I'm not sure what is best suited for my needs: 4870x2, 4850x2, Crossfire 4850, 9800gx2

I do not have the mobo purchased yet either btw

i think just a single 4850 would be fine for you. you won't be able to run crysis on max, but i don't think thats a big deal to you. other than that one game, everything will run very smoothly.

will cysis run at 1900 x 1080 with this card?

It should run 19x10 medium details anyway. I would not expect high details, never mind DX10 very high. If you want to approach mostly High details at that resolution, look toward the HD4870 instead. Even that card will reach it's limits in Crysis though.

Here is actual gameplay in Crysis. The HD4870 handles 1920x1200 as well as the HD4850 handles 1600x1200. Mix of medium/high settings for both. http://www.hardocp.com/article.htm [...] VzaWFzdA==

Thanks. That sounds great, however I have one uncertainty that cropped up this morning. I was reading a review on new egg for the 9800gx2 and the guy has a similar setup to what mine will be and he had a problem:

"This card saved me from an issue I've had. My Sony Bravia 52" LCD TV I use as a monitor would have issues with my 8600 video cards using DVI-HDMI cable.

The TV wouldn't boot on those video cards. It would RUN with them, but I'd have to boot using a VGA cable to the PC input on the back of the TV before switching over to the HDMI input. PC input would have been alright if I never seen how awesome the HDMI looks! I was told to get a Gefen DVI Detective to store my EDID info, but I tried this card instead and YES! The HDMI it has solved any issues I had and works GREAT with my Sony Bravia! Running audio along the HDMI cable was a nice bonus as well!"

Is this just a one off thing do you think or is this a common problem when connecting dvi to hdmi from pc to hdtv.

thanks
