i badly need help, i got transcend axeram ddr2 800 mhz dual channel kit
it works totally fine when im not palying games but whenever im playing games
the computer restarts..for this matter i switched to my previous rams and now im not facing any problem how do i fix the issue with transcend ram please i need help
Since you can't increase the voltage, you can reduce the timings or get memory modules approved by Intel.

hey how do i do that ? besides intel dg9654y supports ddr2 800 MHZ rams anyway waiting for ur reply

hey man still waitin for the reply how do i change the timing of the ram?
When you power up, press F2 to access the BIOS configuration. Select Advanced tab, Chipset configuration, Memory configuration, SDRAM control. Change it from <Automatic> to <Manual> and then set the memory frequency and timings. What are the automatic memory frequency and timings?
yeah would help me if u tell me abt automatic meomory and frequency and timings aswell
Run memtest86+ and check for errors.
thanks man for the help bro i'll be checking it now for errors...
Once you are in the Memory configuration section, the automatic values are displayed on the screen. What are they? 800Mhz, etc.?
it shows 800 mhz
And what are the timings? 4-4-4-12? If memtest detects errors (it most likely will), change the settings to 5-5-5-15 to see if it helps.

ok man here's the thing when i was using ddr2 667 mhz ram the timing was 5-5-5-15
and now im using the ddr 2 800 mhz ram and shud i change the timing to 5-5-5-15
besides on the ram kits cover there was given the default timing 4-4-4-12
so if change the timing to 5-5-5-15 will there be any risk of burning the mainboard please reply
Setting the timings to higher values slows down the memory slightly, but you'll never be able to notice the difference. It should make your system more stable. Just set the timings to 5-5-5-15 to see if it resolves your issue.
What version is your BIOS?
MQ96510J.86A.1749.2008.0727.001... thats the latest version i have updated the bios yesterday
i have set te timing to 5-5-5-15 now lets see if it works properly..im going to play far cry 2 now ah god hope my pc wont reboot..
Excellent. You should set the memory timings and then play a game or run memtest. How much memory did you have before and now?
Intel clearly indicate the following restrictions:
- 4 GB maximum total system memory using DDR2 800 DIMMs
- DDR2 800 DIMMs with SPD timings of only 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 (tCL-tRCD-tRP)
See for additional info.
before i had 512 + 512 + 1024 = 2.00GB dd2 667 Mhz rams and now i have
transends 1024 + 1024 = 2.00 GB ddr 2 800 Mhz rams installed on dual channel
ok now im facing a new problem during using the transend ddr2 800 Mhz rams the games are freezing up every game im playing is freezing up ..i played far cry 2 for like around 6 mins the game wud freeze up same goes for medal of honor same goes for assasins creed ..btw im using sapphire hd4850 1.00 GB card and i dont think there is any problem with the card..
any solution any1
If the system is stable when using your old modules, then you know for sure that the Transend ddr2 800 Mhz RAM is causing those problems.
If I were you I'd try setting the speed to 667Mhz instead of 800Mhz. If that doesn't work, then you should get a kit that's certified for that motherboard. It is a very stable motherboard (mine never crashed in 2 years), but it's also very picky with RAM. I use 2 Crucial RM12864AA667.8FE modules and I have had no issues.
Lets see the rest of your system specs. I put transend axe-ram in my gamer, then I had to swap out for other ram because I couldn't find it anymore. ( wanted to add more memory ) I put it on a machine who's power supply wasn't able to supply the system with enough power. Memory wouldn't run as fast as it did on the other machine. Sure sign right there.
mainboard - intel dg965ry
processor - intel core 2 dou 2.13 ghz e6420
powersupply - 600 watts
ram - currently using the previous rams (512+1.00 GB+512 = 2.00 GB (667 mhz)
hardrive - samsung 320 GB
Graphics card - sapphire hd 4850 1.00 GB
Try 667 MHz with the new modules, also did your FSB was changed when you changed the RAM frecuency?
Power supply.... what make and model ?
well i didn't check the fsb when i swtiched to transcends ram
and the powersupply i have is frm fortex some chinese brand i suppose
Well, when your sitting next to it, post the amps on the side of the supply. You'll see it under the 12v. If there is more than one listing ( 12v ) post them all.
i didn't get u man how do i do it
You'll have to pop the side off to see the power supply. On the side of the supply there should be a sticker with information on it. Under 12v there should be a number. That number should be the amperage. If 12v is listed more than once, list them all.
yes 12v is listed morethen once.
so since 12v is listed so wat do i do now
So, list the numbers under the 12v......... and post the name and model number of the power supply. I'll be back later.
here's the name and model number fortex P4-600w
here's the list
12v1 12v2
20a 20a
465w
Does it work when you set the memory speed to 667Mhz? I would give that a try before getting a new PSU.
yeah it does work :S..
That's what happened to me. Not enough power for them to run the way they should.
since im using some chinese brand 600 watts psu do u think i should shift to thermaltake 600 watts psu
im planing to upgrade my pc
current configuartion
mainboard - intel dg965ry
processor - intel core 2 dou 2.13 ghz e6420
powersupply - 600 watts
ram - currently using the previous rams (512+1.00 GB+512 = 2.00 GB (667 mhz)
hardrive - samsung 320 GB
Graphics card - sapphire hd 4850 1.00 GB
want to uprgarde to
mainboard - Asus P5W DH 975chipset and crossfire ready
processor - intel core 2 duo 2.53 Mhz e7200 ( would be it a good upgarde over core 2 duo 2.13Mhz e6420)
psu - thermaltake 650 watts (would it be enough to run two hd4850 cards)
ram - 4.00 GB (1.00 GB + 1.00 GB + 1.00 GB + 1.00 GB) at 800 mhz
hardrive - will remain the same
A Corsair 750 should be fine and not cost a lot. Don't throw money away on a 975 chipset. Trying to be too cheap is going to hurt you in the long run.
It's better to use 2 sticks of 2GB instead of 4 sticks of 1GB, it's more stable and overclock's better if you are planning to.
so upgrading form core 2 duo 2.13ghz e6420 to core 2 duo 2.53ghz e7200 is better..
If you are planning to use 2 x HD4850 and would like to fully use their potential then you should look for a faster processor, or consider to overclock the e7200, this should give you great performance. Or you could overclock the E6420 and wait until you get more cash to buy a faster processor.

im a rookie i have never overclocked my processor or graphics card besides can any1 tell me how do i overclock the processor? and will it be safe to overclock the processor with the stock cooler ?
I don't believe it. You're ready to junk what you have and buy new hardware. And then you're going to over clock even though you've never done it before, and while this is going on you're avoiding help that will get the machine you have now to run optimally......... which I think this post was about. If you want to buy something, start with the power supply so enough juice can be provided to the hardware that you have now, and to what you MIGHT own in the future.
