43 deg idle, not seen under load yet,

Only applied paste and turned on today?

This is my first Intel system build..

How are my initial temps looking?

Is it with the stock cooler? If it's stock cooler, it's fine. If you have an aftermarket cooler, they're a little high.

its an aftermarket one, but it was only £10. it spins a bit faster and is a larger heatsink.

I'd say you're doing pretty good with that particular cooler. It really doesn't have much surface area for heat dissipation. Not very much cooling fin there. So with that in mind, 43C at idle is pretty decent.

hopefully itll drop to sub 40s once paste is burned in. my 6000+ used to idle at 37 i think or 36

RealTemp gives me reading of avg 28 of the two cores

Core 1: 32
Core 2: 26

Asus AI Suite: 42

Is this that thing with 45nm CPUs where only a few pieces of software can report them accurately? (them = temps)

Do those look more accurate?

But Speedfan tells me differnet too...any ideas?
