I just resinstalled my Q6600 with an Arctic Freezer Pro 7 with MX-1 thermal paste. This is my first experience with apply new thermal paste and I'm not sure if I did it correctly and if I should re-apply.

My system is cpu is idling around 43 and under load goes up to 44-47. Before I reapplied the paste, it would idle around 38. Is this part of the "burn in" time of the paste or should I pull everything apart and reapply the paste? Thanks!

Edit: I am not OC'ing anything in the system.

If under load, it only goes up to 44-47, that's very good.

let it break in, it takes usually around a week or so.

you'll see lower temps afterwards, not sure how much as it varies, but you might see 3-5c :)

Great, how do I break it in? Do I just leave my PC on for a while or should I leave it off?

Thanks!

Ah Ha! I finally figured out what was causing the temp - I forgot to plug in my case fans. I've got 4 fans blowing at medium speed for a a nice cool 35 degree case and a 34 degree CPU.
