I did a search but did not find exactly what I was looking for, so I thought I would ask here.

I want to find a program (free or under $20) to test my computer hardware? Everything from the motherboard, memory, cpu, etc. I believe my issue is hardware related but I want to be sure.

The scenario is this...my machine would not boot it would lockup upon starting Windows. I applied some CPU grease and reseated the plugs for the power supply and it ran fine for a day or two. Now it does not lock up, however Windows does not boot up properly. It will sit there with the bar going across and there is no responce from the keyboard.

The person who looked at my machine said it's either the CPU, the motherboard or the power supply so wanted to test them out. One thing he did mention about was the power supply voltage. I got these results from a test:

+12V at +11.58V
+5V at +4.87V
Core at +1.31V
+3.3V at +3.15V

Would this be a motherboard or power supply issue causing this, and would this cause a computer to lock up?

Any help would be great.
