I'm gonna break with the pack and suggest this for a case/PSU combo. It'll save you $85

with the $ upgrade the motherboard to an Asus/Giga/Biostar P45
bump the HD to a WD 640 if your budget can take it

I can't see the list, it wants a username and password. I'm not a fan of the lower end Cooler Master PSUs.

The realpower pro is a decent PSU and deserves higher than a tier4 rating. Some realpower pros have gotten a 9.5 rating and recommended by jonnyguru. While not the same quality as a PC Power and Cooling or Corsair PSU, for a budget build where the $85 can make a marked improvement in a mobo, HD and CPU i think it's a good choice.

I dunno for the price that seems like a nice solution. 100 bucks for the case and PSU, which has 3 12v rails rated at 19A each. The separate PSU goes for 70 or 80 bucks, and has adequate to good ratings on newegg.

Good find dirtmountain. I think given the budget constraint it works.

On the other hand, for just a bit more you could have a far better PSU than the Corsair 550. The 750 is only 20 dollars more and is in a whole different class. You do not need it for this build, but if you bought it there is a good chance you could keep it through the next build.

I have read the only review that jonnguru has on a Cooler Master PSU and it did get a 9. That PSU, however, is a Real Power Pro 1000W and is extremely expensive, in relation to the competition. He did say in the conclusion,

Quote :

The power supply simply could not sustain it's maximum output, even with the case wide open sucking in 25°C ambient air.

The Real Power Pro 750W was Reviewed by Hardware Canucks and it got good ratings as well. Here is what they said about the OEM Acbel,

Quote :

In my experience, their lower-end power supplies usually leave a lot to be desired but their higher-spec’d products are usually quite good.

There are two OEMs in the Real Power Pro line that we know of, Enhance and Acbel. Given that there are two OEMs, then we can not rule out a third for the lower end, and if not they are probably made by Acbel. The lower end Cooler Master PSUs have historically had a bad name. Maybe this is not the case with the low end of the Real Power Pro line, but I will have to see an in-depth review before I jump on the bandwagon.

Hmm ill definitely consider the case+psu combo... hard to turn down a decent psu that basically only costs $15 lol. My friend would most likely not be overclocking(at least not more than a small amount) or using multiple HDs etc so maybe that would be enough. Also about the HD im pretty sure he'd never use half of that so an upgrade wont be needed. Heres my new wishlist: https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/ [...] ID=8966206

has an upgraded mobo(good?) and the case/psu. thanks for the feedback, lemme know if i screwed somethin up

It could be complete garbage, true.

The case he wants is 85 bucks. The same case comes with a 550W PSU for ONLY 15 DOLLARS MORE :)

Seems like a pretty good gamble to me.

It's a really good gamble, unless it dies and takes the mobo+ with it.

Sw1ft1, I still can't see your list.
