Major HDD problem

Ok so heres the story, my friends Hard Drive with loads of important info. has gone A wall, it works as a slave to mine but not on its own. However I cant take any info. off because he's passwords on his accounts and I cant copy them over.....
Also theres two trojans on it which I cant remove because they've infected vital files......

So, is there a way for me to copy the documents? Thats all I need to do, because then I can format the drive and all will be good, All help appreciated!
