I have a Asus P5B (vanilla) and I have recently recovered a Sound Blaster Audigy LS (SB0310) from another system.

Now - My gut feeling is that the Sound Card will be better than the MB sound - but is this card sufficiently ancient as not to be of any real benefit? Is there a better card that is miles ahead of either of these?

I only use 2 speakers + a sub - so 7.1 isn't much of a concern to me in any scenario.

Thank you for your input.

- Cheers

I would say if you dont have the greatest speakers then just stick with a cheaper soundblaster card. if you do plan on upgrading your speakers then i would suggest the x-fi xtreme gamer fatal1ty series. They can be found from anywhere from $75-$135 dollars. (i usually buy from newegg.com but found a great deal at bestbuy for that $75 price range)
