I've been told it's the best overclocking AMD motherboard, so what's the best but still safe overclock speed I can get with the 955 on it? I plan to get a good CPU cooler too.
I've never overclocked before, and probably won't until games actually require it.
Ignore the 6ghz...what you will get will depend on your case, system (graphics cards, ect.), luck of the draw on the chip, and what aftermarket cooler you use. You can expect 3.6 - 4.0, but not much above that using air cooling.
The "6" ghz was done, and actually it was 7 ghz. It was done using $5/Liter liquid nitrogen cooling then Liquid Helium. Liquid nitrogen temperature is 196 below Zero Celsius. While Liquid helium is like 250 below zero Celsisu. Just ignore this overclock lol.

the OP is obviously looking for a real world 24/7 overclock, not some competition OC on liquid nitrogen. Posting that only confuses people new to overclocking causing them to expect something they will never realistically achieve. I'm sure you can make a Ford Escort go 200 mph, but if someone who just bought a stock Escort ask how fast it goes, you shouldn't tell them the top speed ever achieved, you should tell them a reasonable average of how fast the cars most like theirs will go.
So yes, IGNORE the 6ghz unless you are a competition overclocker who wants to spend $1000 and risk blowing up your system for a one time overclock. If you want a good stable overclock for everyday use you can expect 3.6 - 4.0. What does a competition overclock have to do with the original posters question....NOTHING, so why was it posted? That is why I said ignore it.
If you don't want to help the original poster I suggest you start a new thread to promote whatever agenda you have.
