I've weighted a lot between direct x 10.1 of 4870 and physx of gtx280 and finally ended up with physx. ( ditched 260 of course )
So when would be the right time to buy gtx 280?
My budget is enough at this point but I really don't think it would be a good idea to buy it right now after paying high premium for 10-15% performance increase over 4870.
the cheapest one after the rebate is $389 on newegg. But since I don't believe much in rebate, I am actually waiting until the ACTUAL price goes down to $399.
Will that happen around september? Though 4850x2 is coming, it will still depend on the driver and won't benefit in ALL games. ( Since this whole method of sli and crossfire/multi gpu are still sketchy and wont bring 2x performance all the time).
My theory at this time is that price of 280 will plummet after the release of 4850x2 and it will go down below $399. But that is just my perspective.
Or... maybe I might have to wait until gtx 200b comes out
So what do you guys think?

I was going to say when the price hit $300-$350. I have no idea when that might happen. Depending on what you have already, you might not want to wait. You could just say F it and get the 4870. A bit slower then the GTX280, but you can get one for under $300.

You have the 4850x2 coming in a few weeks, and the 55nm G200s coming right after. Id wait.
