So I got my hands on a dell xps 200 Pentium D 820 that was having some heat issues.
Digging into it I found that the heat sink for the chipset was so hot that you could not touch it. So I pulled the heat sink off of it and found this under it. Is that dark spot next to the chip normal? Was that caused by heat?
Oh and what a poor heat design on this PC -- blow hot are off the CPU 1.25 inches onto the HD and put the hot chip set .5 inches under that HD. (the hard drive went bad -- that's what started all this)
