Hi.. I currently have a q6600 on a evga 650i ultra .. oc @ 3.0 (333x9)

I would like to buy a new motherboard and thinking of getting a x38/x48 or 790i ultra..

but those motherboards accept fsb's of 1333/1600 mhz.. can i run my q6600 at those fsb out of the box?

i suggest getting a x38 or x48 chipset. Intel makes much better chipsets than Nvidia does. But depending on your gfx card i guess the 790i would be good also.

you can only run those speeds at stock if you have a good enough heatsink...

i personally recommend the p45... even though its not an x48... it has all the goodies of the x40 series of overclocking except slightly less cross-fire performance... although the crossfire might be what your looking into

a great heatsink thats pretty cheap is the xigamatek s1283 @ newegg

yes it will but if you want to use the q6600 at 1600 fsb you may need a better heatsink

just dont overclock it, you wont have too. ALL dual/quad cpus will work on modern intel chipsets. the fps specs are just how high it CAN go
