I have tried to overclock my Q6600 to 3.0Ghz or 3.2ghz but no matter what i do, it does not work. I KNOW how to overclock but for some reason Coretemp 0.99.5 keeps showing 267 x 9 instead of 333 x 9.
my BIOS shows FSB 333 and CPU 9 which is 3.0ghz BUT Coretemp keeps showing 267 x 9 no matter what. Same problem with CPU-Z.
My bus speed just wont change! It keeps showing as 267 and not 333 or whatever I set it to in BIOS.
Can anyone help me fix this problem and overclock??
Thanks a lot.

On your Support CD, there should also be a utility called "ASUS AI Suite": you'll need to install that from the Support CD. See instructions at the very end of your motherboard's User Manual.
AI Suite has an option to display the current FSB setting and multiplier.
If your Support CD doesn't work, or you can't find it, all of these utilities are also available for download from the ASUS website for that motherboard.

So I should use ASUS AI Suite to see what my current FSB setting and multiplier is? But what are the chances of Coretemp and CPU-Z being wrong? This is such an annoying and wierd problem, I have never heard of anyone with this problem before.
I heard that it is not good to OC with software too so...someone please help me. I am pretty sure all the settings in BIOS is correct. What's wierder is my Asus EPU 6 Engine program sets my mobo to Turbo mode and won't let me change it when i set Ai Overclock Tuner to Manual.
Thanks.

Well Ive never had CoreTemp displaying improper values but asked about cpu-z just to be sure. Ive seen this problem before, even here on toms, people call it "bios not saving settings". Strangely Ive never followed any of those threads, probably because Ive never had this problem. Anyway(and thats just a shot in the dark) do you use EPP profile for memory/is memory on auto-settings? If so than try setting it manually to whatever speed(take the lowest one) and then try upping the fsb. May not help but no harm in trying
