More about broken pins
  1. To repair a broken IDE connector is a very expensive task. I have done it on my drives in the past. You need to be a skilled in electronics to do it or you have to pay a lot $$$$$$ for somebody to do it for you, so you can recover your data on the drive.

For your second question the answer is yes.... You can purchase IDE to SATA converter kits ~ $29.00 at computer stores such as Frys.
  2. This is the pinout for an IDE connector . A lot of the pins are ground pins - if one or two of them are missing then everything will probably still work OK.
