I have a Dell XPS 630i and i'm looking to upgrade the MB. It has an 650i chipset and i'm stuck at FSB 400 and 3.6 ghz on a e8400, nothing to be done. So now i'm thinking about the EVGA 750i FTW, first for SLI support and second, because i need Nvidia Control Panel to take care of the fans and lighting of the XPS case.
Ok now i get to the point, it seems to me like there are very mixed feelings for this MB.
Guru3d is recommending it, although i dont see them getting over FSB 400 because they are OCing an Q6600 @ 3.6.
Firingsquad is getting FSB 500..seems kind of high for a 750i chipset..
XbitLabs is saying to keep the hell away from this board.
Enthusias.hardocp gave it is editor's choice award, pulling out a 520 FSB on an e8500.
The 750i isn't the board for OCing. The chipset has problems with FSB after 380. The 750i's a mixed bag, some times you can hit higher than 400FSB but that's rare. Imo, save up and get a 780i.
Ok i got that, so i'm thinking about this option. Buying EVGA 750i FTW. If i "hit" i keep it. If i get a crappy board, which is my case is more than likely, knowing my luck, i use EVGA step up program and get myself the 780i FTW.
I had a 750i Asus P5N-D, (not the same board I know!) and it was rubbish. My two penneths is aviod the 750i and get a 780i. I have a P5N-T Deluxe 780i now which is running 475mhz FSB quite happily and you can get one of those new for less than the EVGA board. (Its a much better featured board too!)
