hi
usually only come here to look at "new" stuff to buy or chat with people about new stuff to buy.....

Now, about 2 months ago I bought a BFG 8800GT, it has been getting some choppy frames in games.
I usually only play a little Halo or CoD2....was thinking about CoD4, but this chopiness has me concerned!

I have now installed Everest Ultimate and I can see that my GPU temp goes rfom about 64C up to as much as 80C

Is this normal/acceptable or should I be worried?
and where can I look to get some good temperature refences to work with?

Rivatuner (google it) is a good tool for Nvidia cards and will let you set custom fan speeds to lower the temperatures if you are concerned.

My previous BFG 8800GTS 640 OC would peak at 80 degrees on full load from new and hit 93 degrees after 18 months use before I took the cat fur out of the fan! With no ill effects.

Your system should play most games at 16x10 quite smoothly, perhaps you should turn down/off antialiasing as this has quite a hit on framerates.
