I cannot hear my skype caller to speak when they are trying to contact me. Where is my problem

Does audio work in other respects - the Windows march-on music for example?

Skype needs to be told in Tools>Options>Audio Settings whether or not the default equipment is to be used.

If you want to use a headset but the system has speakers set as default, Skype can't work properly.
