Ok i have been looking all over the forums for info on how i should go about overclocking my CPU. i keep keep hitting bumps, and the main reason for this is the language of overclocking i cant understand the phrasing and terminology and how to run Prime95, thats a whole new thing i havnt seen before. i was told to run a Torturetest and i have but i dont understand what its testing or what reading i should be getting for what componants i have. I also need to know if possible what voltages of RAM and FSB i need to change according to the 3.2 overclock and higher clocked options if possible.

I have downloaded Coretemp and CPU-Z and my system runs a steady 25-30 degrees C. On my coretemp it says my VID is 13500 if im right isnt that my fsb voltage and if so my bios says its 13000..?? and alsomy RAM is pc2 8500 but cpu-z says max bandwidth pc2 6400(400mhz)?? but still
I have been wanting to overclock my CPU for a while now but i cant bring myself to do it, just incase of damage but hopefuly with your help i can. i want to overclock it to 3.2 or higher if possible. i will leave a link to a screenshot of cpu-z and cortemp running just so you can see.

My system Spec.
OS : Vista Ultimate
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 x8.0 (the screenshot will say x0.6 but my bios says x8.0)
Memory : DDR2 4GB Corsair Dominator 1066MHz, PC2-8500 C5
Mobo : Gygabite GA-X48-DQ6
GPU : 1GB ATI HD4890 XXX Edition
PSU : Corsair TX750W
Heatsinque : Asus Triton-81
Case: Silverstone Raven RV01

i would like the expert or a professional opinion before i try to overclock my systems CPU. I hope im not asking to much from you all.

Thankyouplease :D

Here is a guide that will help you with your E6750

http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] ,1720.html

You should be able to easily get to 3.2 with setting the FSB to 400 and everything else on auto.

Disable C1E and EIST and your cpu wont drop down it's settings to save power.
You really dont have to diasble either.
If you want to see your CPU running at max download Prime95 and run small FFT with your CoreTemp or SpeedFan or Real Temp running in the background.

Most of your settings under MIT will be similar.

i tried what you said and my pc restarted and then restarted twice after that automaticly and when it booted up i went to CPU-Z and my core was still 2.67? any other ideas KNotKNuT

Read Shadows Thread also.
If you enabled CPU host Control and set FSB to 400 exit and save your setting you should be at 3.2GHz.

i have done so...it seems my pc keeps restarting ive set everything to auto and enables CPU host..set to 400mhz but no luck..should i try manually? and if so what voltages or setting should i set it at.

MIT..?? refesh on what that is..sorry im slow :)

^MIT = Motherboard Intelligence Tweaker. AKA where you OC on gigabyte boards.

You need to increase vcore. Also SPD set at 2? PCIe at 100?

As for exact voltages, I can't tell you that as each CPU is different. Just keep it under 1.5v for 65nm CPUs.

That is called SpeedStep. Disable this when OCing.

i cannot find C1E and EIST in my bios MIT. might it be named something else perhaps?

I sure hope you don't have your memory set to DDR2 1066 settings and trying to overclock it. Set your Ram speed to DDR2 1:1 that is the lowest ram setting on there. Then do the 400MHz FSB and try it again. Once that is done then you can raise your ram's speed till it says DDR2 1066 or 533MHz in CPUz.

You will find C1E and EIST under "Advanced BIOS Features"
Disable both.
