smart fan question

Under smart fan, can the user set temp values (like Abit's uguru, evga's smart fan), or, are you stuck with a pre-determined fan speed/temp profile like ASUS's q-fan?

Nearly all Intel chipset boards of late have some type of fan control in the bios. I set my ecs board to 48c for the activation point of the cpu fan, and used the lowest fan setting of 0 for low noise. But I can't help you if your board is amd.
