Iteraid the device did not respond within the timeout period

My machine is running very slowly, and occasionally freezes for a few seconds. The only errors I can find in the event viewer are:

The device, \Device\Scsi\iteraid1, did not respond within the timeout period.

I have an Gigabyte GA7N400 Pro2 motherboard and am using the onboard hardware RAID controller.

I've replaces the drives once already. Any ideas as to whether the RAID controller is faulty, or whether this is a bogus error message?

I would take a look at the RAID controller. Now that you're using different drives, that's the logical step to take. Got a spare controller you can try out?
