DVR no subscription compatible with 1080 recorder

I just want DVR with no subscription to enable me to use my Sony 1080P recorder I don't need features that stop live TV and record 100 hours

I'm not entirely familiar with the gadget in question, but from the specs I've seen (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10...), isn't it possible to just plug in a hard disk and record the input there?
