fail. Many have done that. Dosen't work well. If you want best (a few C above ambient) you should be looking at water.

 

edit: Assuming a C2D/C2Q not i7,etc and idel temps.

Few C above ambient? Water puts me at 55C and my ambients are 28C under load. i7 965 stock 120x3 PA rad, can't do much better than that. Using an AC unit properly can really bring down the temps. I said properly executed.

The increase in power bills...ack. An AC unit running nearby, noise ack.

It's valid tho, not a fail.

^ I was talking about idle lol and not an i7. It's not that bad, but it depends on how good/bad the ambient temps are and how well the AC can cool. Also, the fail statement was directed at the OP since this (idea) has been posted many times.

But if it works for him, great! It's not a fail if done right.

A good window AC unit at 50F incoming air WILL give great temps. Dry air and cool, whats not to love about it?

Amazing pics on the house, hope it's all worth it.
